So back in February, I first wrote up a review about an easy way to read a small portion of a book every day, called Drip Read and Daily Lit. It was working out great for me when I wrote up my post, and I kept babbling to my husband about how I was finally going to read all those classics that I always wanted to read.
Well, a couple of months later… well, I’m less than happy with either site.
One day I decided I wanted to read one of my classics on the site directly. I hadn’t been getting to my daily reading, so I knew I was behind, and you are supposed to be able to read on the site. Which I did. I thought the site would automatically keep track of where I left – wouldn’t that make sense? But the next day, I got the part from the email the day before, not where I left off from the extra reading I did. I went into the site, thinking I could update it… and it seems like that doesn’t work, no matter what I tried. So now, every day, I get an email for a section of a book I’ve already read, and I have to manually remember to hit “send next part” or I won’t get the next part. I’ve already forgotten several times – I just start reading, and delete the email when I realize “Oh yeah I already read this”. And now, it seems like the site is stuck on just sending me reminders every day that I need to read this part (which I already read). So, goodbye Drip Read – you were fantastic, but nah… not so much.
I haven’t really been utilizing the other site, Daily Lit. I am going to try to finish some of those classics I started on both sites the old fashioned way, you know with an actual book in hand, and then perhaps I’ll try utilizing Daily Lit again.
